About Us
Free Cakes for Kids Sutton is a local group of enthusiastic home bakers who make delicious home made cakes for families who can't provide one for their child. The local branch was started by organiser Lynne O'Brien in 2011 after she read an article about the group in Oxford. Having baked birthday cakes for her own children she was saddened to think that there were children whose families were unable to provide even a cake for their child's birthday.
There are now over 30 local bakers volunteering for the group. We aren't professional bakers, but will do our best to bake a delicious cake with the child's favourite theme or style. The bakers make the cake in their own kitchens, donating their time and the ingredients

How Does it Work?
It's pretty simple, we match local enthusiastic home bakers with families in need.
Most of our cake requests come via a 'partner' organisation, such as Sutton Women's Aid,
Family Support Workers, HomeStart, the Young Carers or the Rainbow Trust. This means that we know that we are helping the families most in need. Please do get in touch to find out more if you work with families who could use a helping hand.

Important Information
- All our cakes are made by volunteers who love baking and decorating cakes. Our bakers are not professionals, but will always bake to the best of their ability in order to bring joy to the birthday child.
- We don't use nuts, unless specifically requested, but can't guarantee that our kitchens are nut free.
- We can provide gluten and dairy free cakes on request and will do our best to meet other dietary requirements. Please let us know if the child has coeliac disease as we have bakers who have gluten free kitchens.
- All of our volunteers have signed our food hygiene policy, which sets out our strict hygiene standards.
- We operate with strict confidentiality, personal information is not requested or shared unnecessarily.
